There Was A Rain Once

There was a rain once
that broke the sky in
two
and strangely
streets stepped by you
lifted an old curtain
beyond your knowing me
Bus stops rode a bumpy tumult to afterthoughts
of a ramshackle café rendezvous
old delhi crowds closed in
on an evening of hurrying on your
solitaire smile
and
The jama masjid windows filtered the
closeness of the sun
colors of kites
black koel eyelashes
of rusty evenings
that stayed together
always.
